  • The Faculty of Communication and Documentation is located at the “Edificio Máximo” of the University Campus of Cartuja. Our campus will soon be part of the Spanish exclusive excellence groups. It has got a recent and intense history which completes the cultural settlements Granada has undergone in the past, such as the archaeological site from the Roman Period which is located between the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty of educational Sciences : the “Horno Romano”, which will soon be ready for visits and indoor so as to keep its preservation.
  • Water treatment is another proof of the importance of heritage. There is a great number of reservoirs set out in a strategical way in order to meet all the needs: orchard irrigation, consumption and enjoyment in fountains and springs.
  • The water flowing from the Huetor mountain range through Aynadamar fountain, among others, to Triunfo Fountain and the city centre, was used in several engineering works, some of them still remaining.
  • The neomudejar building of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation was owned by the Compañía de Jesús . Fountains, neogothic ruins, gardens in the style of the 19th century and even a quiet, invisible and beautiful graveyard can be found in its surroundings.
  • In 1970 all this area was sold to the University of Granada. The rectors Federico Mayor Zaragoza, who is the one arranging this purchase, and Antonio Gallego Morell, who sets out the site the way we can see it today, are responsible for the change and the beginning of current times.
  • There are two traditional buildings which keep a bond between history and modernity: the Astronomical Observatory and the Edifico Máximo. They both constituted a cultural and scientific axis which gives the town a high reputation.
  • In the 80s the Faculty of Communication and Documentation reclaimed this singular building for university purposes, then this building was shared with the Faculty of Odontology and that is the way we find it today.
  • Fortunately the Faculty of Communication and Documentation owns the most emblematic and beautiful building of the University Campus of Cartuja.
