Resumen
El K-Pop (música popular de Corea del Sur) se ha expandido mundialmente en los últimos años gracias a grupos como BLACKPINK o BTS que han llevado la cultura coreana a los países occidentales. Se analizan en este trabajo de fin de grado los orígenes del género, los elementos que distinguen la industria musical coreana del resto del mundo, destacando su sistema de entrenamiento de los denominados trainees y las tres grandes compañías que dominan el mercado. BLACKPINK y BTS han conseguido a lo largo de su carrera grandes logros comerciales, expandiendo su música a todos los rincones del planeta, abriendo el camino a otros grupos. Con el objetivo de verificar el impacto del K-Pop en occidente son analizados tres aspectos que destacan del K-Pop: la moda, sus videoclips y sus coreografías. Con su expansión mundial, el K-Pop ya no solo se considera un movimiento cultural, sino también político y social, utilizando las denominadas fancams como arma política contra el racismo. Además, se ha realizado un estudio complementario con el objetivo de constatar el impacto público real del K-Pop, es decir, si el público general conoce el género, algún grupo, y averiguar si el K-Pop ha influido en la sociedad en general.
Abstract
K-Pop (popular music from South Korea) has expanded worldwide in recent years thanks to groups such as BLACKPINK or BTS that have brought Korean culture to Western countries. The origins of the genre, the elements that distinguish the Korean music industry from the rest of the world, highlighting its training system of trainees and the three major companies that dominate the market are analyzed in this final project. BLACKPINK and BTS have achieved great commercial success throughout their career, expanding their music to all corners of the planet, paving the way for other groups. In order to verify the impact of K-Pop in the West, three aspects of K-Pop are analyzed: fashion, music videos and choreography. With its worldwide expansion, K-Pop is not only considered a cultural movement, but also a political and social one, using the fancams as a political weapon against racism. In addition, a complementary study has been carried out with the aim of ascertaining the real public impact of K-Pop, i.e. whether the general public knows the genre, any groups, and to find out whether K-Pop has influenced society in general.
