Resumen
La línea principal de este Trabajo Final de Grado es la de poder llegar a conocer y vislumbrar la narrativa distópica posmoderna reflejada en la película de Don’t look up (McKay, 2021) a través de un análisis de contenido cualitativo. Previamente, se ha realizado una contextualización del recorrido de las obras distópicas para comprender la evolución de dicha narrativa y hemos profundizado en el concepto de la posmodernidad relacionándolo con los tres elementos centrales representados en la película: los medios de comunicación, la política y el capitalismo.
Secundariamente, hemos analizado la recepción de esta obra audiovisual para desentrañar el posicionamiento de los críticos especializados y de la propia audiencia, además de conocer el posicionamiento e intenciones del propio director.
Tras este proceso, podemos determinar que Don’t look up es síntoma y reflejo de un malestar profundo en la sociedad, donde la nueva distopía es la individualidad y la estupidez de la cultura occidental, promovida por el gran motor del neoliberalismo económico en su empeño por politizar, polarizar y capitalizar todo, incluido el fin del mundo.
Abstract
The main line of this Final Degree Project is to be able to get to know and glimpse the postmodern dystopian narrative reflected in the film Don't look up (McKay, 2021) through a qualitative content analysis. Previously, a contextualization of the dystopian works has been carried out to understand the evolution of this narrative and we have delved into the concept of postmodernity by relating it to the three central elements represented in the film: the media, politics and capitalism.
Secondly, we have analyzed the reception of this audiovisual work to unravel the position of specialized critics and the audience itself, in addition to knowing the position and intentions of the director himself.
After this process, we can determine that Don't look up is a symptom and reflection of a deep malaise in society, where the new dystopia is the individuality and stupidity of Western culture, promoted by the great engine of economic neoliberalism in its efforts for politicize, polarize and capitalize on everything, including the end of the world.
