Resumen
Algunas plataformas OTT (over-the-top) como HBO, Disney + y Netflix han eliminado contenidos temporalmente (o definitivamente, en el caso de Disney) de sus catálogos por considerarse racistas, sexistas u homófobos. En este documento se expondrán diferentes casos en los que los estereotipos raciales, homófobos y sexistas jugaron un papel importante en la sociedad y en la producción audiovisual. De la misma forma, se explicará la importancia del término “Cultura de la cancelación” y las causas por las que ha tomado un papel cada vez más importante en la sociedad afectando a las producciones audiovisuales por no cumplir con lo que se ha establecido como políticamente correcto.
Abstract
Some of the OTT (over-the-top) platforms such as HBO, Disney + and Netflix have removed content temporarily (or permanently, in the case of Disney) from their offer for being considered racist, sexist or homophobic. This document will expose different cases in which racial, homophobic and sexist stereotypes played an important role in society and in audiovisual productions. In the same way, it will explain the importance of the term "Cancellation Culture" and the causes why it has taken an increasingly important role in society affecting audiovisual productions for not fulfilling with what has been established as politically correct.
