Resumen
El 28 de octubre de 1956 comenzaron las emisiones oficiales de Televisión Española, desde el Paseo de la Habana en Madrid.
En el año 1958, el profesor José Plácido Reyes Calvente, junto a Miguel Cabrerizo Muñoz, instalan una antena receptora en el Veleta, con la intención de que Granada fuera la Primera Estación de TV de Andalucía. Ellos sabían que este proyecto, no era viable por la configuración de nuestra Sierra; aún así, se efectuaron infinidad de pruebas para descartarlo completamente y sobre todo para aprovechar el impulso que podría dar a la televisión y a la Sierra granadina. La Universidad, tenía allí grandes extensiones de terreno, donde llevaban años realizando estudios de investigación en diferentes ámbitos; se pretendía crear nuevas áreas de conocimiento, inexploradas hasta ese momento, y qué por las condiciones extraordinarias de esta Sierra, serían únicas a nivel mundial. Por otro lado, deseaban fomentar la estación de esquí, apoyando nuevas actividades deportivas que llevarían a cabo los estudiantes.
Consiguen la primera emisión de televisión en la provincia de Granada con un aparato que desarrolló, José Olmo Fernández, junto a sus hermanos Juan y Miguel.
Abstract
On October 28, 1956, the official broadcasts of Spanish Television began, from the Paseo de la Habana in Madrid.
In 1958, Professor José Plácido Reyes Calvente, together with Miguel Cabrerizo Muñoz, installed a receiving antenna in the Veleta, with the intention that Granada would be the First TV Station in Andalusia. They knew that this project was not viable because of the configuration of our Sierra; even so, countless tests were carried out to rule it out completely and above all to take advantage of the boost it could give to television and the Sierra Granada. The University had large tracts of land there, where they had been carrying out research studies in different areas for years; it was intended to create new areas of knowledge, unexplored until that time, and that by the extraordinary conditions of this Sierra, would be unique worldwide. On the other hand, they wanted to give a boost to the ski resort, supporting new sports activities that the students would carry out.
